Friday’s are the highlight of Zac’s week these days - The house manager of the Pate Rehabilitation brings her own horses to the facility for the enjoyment and for occupational therapy sessions with the patients.
Hank, the bay gelding pictured, stands 16 hands tall. He has been trained to be comfortable with the hustle of the patients and especially with the wheelchairs. Zac is able to stand up just as though he were haltering the horse, pet him and allow the time to just love the wonder of nature and the outdoors. Last Friday the group of patients enjoyed an outdoor cookout. Zac even commented on hearing coyotes howling! Just being out in the wide-open spaces and hearing nature has been a great blessing.
The second horse, Trip, is a gray dapple roan horse. He is still getting used to the patients, however Zac has taken a special liking to him. Zac sent Fred to the store prior to the horses coming in order to have carrots ready to feed them. Funny how God works, not sure who is getting the best blessing, Zac or the horses!
For those who may not remember, Zac was involved with horses from 3 days old until he found the love of the power and excitement of a different “horsepower” – that of the motorcycles.
